OUR FEATURED WORK
The garden at Rosemound Farm is a joy every day. This garden was developed by many hands and hearts over the generations. Food crops as well as ornamental gardens are part of the plan and are open to the public by appointment. The grounds feature old shade trees, rare and odd species of perennials, beautiful flowering shrubs, open fields, and a truffle orchard.
The family garden is our central theme at this address. Our clients wish to use the space to its best and most productive advantage. Fruit trees, along with vegetable beds, grape vines, and berry trellises are everywhere. The property needed a bit of a face-lift and enframement when we started several years ago, and now has grown up right along with its young caretakers. We monitor water usage, and maintenance costs, constantly, along with arborist work, and also insist on organic and sustainable practices.
This garden in the foothills is both expansive and intimate. The owners have developed the landscape over time, while raising an active family and enjoying very busy careers. With remodels, and the changing landscape we have addressed functional issues, maintenance requirements, use of well water and economizing municipal water. We have introduced the practice of onsite composting as well. Recently we designed a new project to remove over 4000 square feet of lawn and the installation of drought oriented plants to create a sense of energy, and appropriateness in the space.
The Foothills offer terrific challenges with hillsides, poor soil, parching sun, water conservation issues, wind, and our friends the deer. This garden is a very central part of our clients’ lives and they cherish it. We’re lucky to enjoy such a wonderful space, regardless of its challenges. The space developed as one that could be enjoyed strolling through, with spaces to pause and enjoy the views, the fruit trees, and the many flowering shrubs and perennials. Every season of the year offers a special feature in this garden.
The garden on this property has been developed by loving hands over the past 35 years, and by two generations. The spaces on the property offer many different views, exposures, and uses. Currently we are developing a revised design due to a new home being built on the same site. We were very fortunate to be involved in many phases of the design and construction of the new home and had the opportunity to discuss views from both inside and outside the structure, discuss solar loads, maintenance, and finishes, and collaborate with other members of the design and construction team. This garden is a gem, and the new house will benefit from the many mature plants we have selected for the landscape.
JBGD started design work on this garden in 2001, and has designed as well as managed construction on many projects including renovation of entire landscape, addition of pool and play areas, pathways, all hardscape and collaborated on a remodel to the home. Additionally, we have designed and produced many social events and family celebrations in the gardens. The family is constantly in motion and always up for a fun time. Enjoy the Party!
Quiet Mediterranean elegance is found in this Mid-Peninsula home. The garden is tucked away at the end of a lane with greenspace beyond. Our collaboration with the architect, engineer, interior designer and builder produced a seamless experience between interiors and the garden spaces. Included are a pool and cabana, shaded dining near expansive terrace, courtyard with Italian fountain, meditation garden, and hidden tropical getaway.
